Ben Elton tightly gripped Great Britain’s comedy scene back in the 1980s.
the British comedian, actor, author, playwright, lyricist and director was part of the comedy movement that was responsible for The Young Ones and Blackadder.
In recent years, however, he has been relatively quiet – until now.
Elton, 64, has just confirmed a massive new tour kicking off in September 2024 – the Authentic Stupidity Tour – beginning at York’s Barbican, running all the way through to November 18, 2024, where he’ll close out his tour at London’s Lyceum Theatre.
The funnyman has not graced comedy stages for just over 15 years. This hiatus put a stop to the “undisputed godfather of modern stand-up comedy’s” wonderful history of leaving his fans breathless with joy.
Speaking about this new massive monumental tour, Elton said: “The verdict’s in! Humanity is thick! Homo halfwit. The idiot branch of the Ape family! We need signs to tell us to step off escalators, we elect gibbering fools to lead us and now we’ve invented Artificial intelligence which is actually going to replace us!”
